Kyle Macdonald

With a father that was a fire fighter, a mother who worked as a librarian, two brothers that served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, and a sister that's a grade-school teacher, I grew up surrounded with a sense of service to one's community.

That upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation and strong passion for public service. To that end, I have dedicated myself to advocating for causes, advancing policies, and supporting individuals and organizations that work to better our community for all.

I have been blessed to be afforded a diverse background in politics and government, gaining over a decade of experience on local, county, state, and federal campaigns, service to public agencies, as well as positions held in United States Congressional offices in Washington DC and in-district. My diversity in experience is equally matched with my diversity of geographical reach. My career has taken him from California to Washington DC, Texas to Virginia, and back to California again.

Having experience in a wide array of policy areas, I have analyzed and advocated issues across the spectrum.

Specializing in public safety matters, I presently serve as Director of Government Affairs for one of the largest fire districts and public ambulance providers in the state of California. Prior to that, I was honored to serve as Director of Government Affairs for the 10th largest Sheriff's Office in the nation. In that capacity, I was at the forefront of law enforcement’s evolution in recent years, working closely to ensure the desires of our legislature, the wants of our community, and the needs of our society were thoughtfully balanced, implemented, and upheld.

Born and raised in Carmel, California, I was a product of public schools. During that time, I had teachers who didn’t just educate, but also inspired me to look at issues strategically, reflectively, and with a focus on balancing differing perspectives. These skillsets are still used by me daily, and I'm forever grateful for their guidance.

Over the years, I've held many roles, and had many titles. The one I'm proudest of is that of husband. I married my wife Alexandria in 2021, and together we call Placer County home.

As I work to ...
